How to create a bouquet

How do you actually make a bouquet? Many people wonder! In this article, we'll tell you how to create a bouquet - step by step.

Choose a color scheme
Use the color wheel... use either complementary or contrasting colors for a simple and harmonious combination.

Choose a variety of textures
Use flowers with different shapes and character... a classic combination is 'large round flowers', 'flowers with many flowers on one stem' and a flower that has several small flowers.

Use seasonal flowers
Flowers in season are always the most beautiful! They are also more environmentally friendly as they can be sourced locally.

Add green and infill
Green adds so much! Lovely texture, wonderful shades of green that complement many different colors and give a beautiful fresh scent.

Trim and prepare your flowers properly
Remove lower leaves and anything that is below the waterline.
Remove all thorns. Remove any leaves that don't look pretty.

Note: Some flowers, such as hydrangeas, benefit from having most of their leaves removed because their leaves take energy. If you want to avoid wilted hydrangeas, remove most of the leaves.

Balance and symmetry
A bouquet should look beautiful from every angle. Make sure the bouquet is well balanced... a bouquet does not have to have identically placed flowers, but should be thought out so that it has a similar number of flowers on different sides of the bouquet.

Retain moisture and freshness
A fresh cut surface helps your flowers absorb water and stay fresh. By changing the water (regularly) you extend the lifespan, flower nutrition also helps.
